Sian Ka'an Biosphere

Sian Ka'an, which means in Mayan "where the sky is born", is among Mexico's largest and most diverse protected area. This incredible park includes 110 km of Mesoamerican Reef and encompasses a surprising 1.3 million acres.

Both a UNESCO World Heritage site and an important conservation area, this vast reserve is a natural playground for visitors, with not only the tropical jungle but also the mangrove forests to explore.

In this water sanctuary, you will find an array of wildlife along with its ecological diversities. Nature enthusiasts will be in their element, experiencing 50 minutes of floating fun through the mangrove...down a naturally made canal.  You may spot howler and spider monkeys, asprey, or...

a variety of wild animals that may be seen in their natural habitat.  For the bird enthusiast there have been 379 species sited to date with 220 making the reserve their full-time home.

We offer 2 tours, half day and full day.  Both include snacks, drinks, lunch.  Both tours start out with a guided tour of the Muyil Ruins.  Both include the boat ride thru ancient Mayan canals and mangroves and the lovely float.  This is the end of the half day tour and we will return to the boat and motor back to the docks of Muyil, where we will have lunch.

The full day tour continues by boat to the coastline of Boca Paila.  We will pass mangroves, lagoons, a heavily flowing freshwater cenote, stop where the manatees munch down seagrass, search for crocodiles in the mangroves, and swim on a secluded beach, for a wonderful day of boating, sunshine, and fun.
